Pain and frequent urination are the alarming signals of urological problems in men. The prostate may become inflamed at any age not only because of infection coming through urethra.
Prostatitis can be noninfectious, caused by venous blood congestion in pelvis organs. Both disorderly sexual life and sex abstinence are guilty in its appearance just as in young and old age with pains weak, nagging in loin and perineum, more severe in abstinence. Sometimes frequent urination is noted in the morning.
The most significant sign is low libido, blurring orgasm and weakening of erection. These problems bring men to the doctor. The infectious acute prostatitis is manifested with prominent symptoms: pain, burning during urination, night imperative feeling of urination, and feeling of swollen bladder; high body temperature. Bacteria usually get into urethra during the coitus and, reaching the prostate, cause inflammation which should be urgently treated, otherwise the process may transform into chromic one.
The chronic infectious prostatitis starts with contamination (usually from STD or transfer of pathogenic microorganisms) and then it passes into the prolonged stage, which is characterized with anatomic impairments of prostate. Susceptibility to chronic prostatitis is higher with sedentary way of life, disorderly sex relations, and irregular sex life.
Symptoms arising in prostatitis patients can be divided into three groups: on the part of urogenital system (retention of urine or frequent urination, burning and pain, frequent tenesmus, incomplete emptying of the bladder); on the part of genital functions (weak erection, orgasm); on the part of nervous system (depression, neurosis related to physiological problems).
Of course, examination for prostatitis and its diagnostics must be performed by urologist. During the examination the doctor performs palpation of prostate, microscopic investigation of the prostate secretion, bacteriological inoculation of urine and prostate secretion, ultrasonic scanning of prostate, and immunity and hormonal balance analysis.
How is prostate treated?
For prostate treatment one should consider the way of infection’s getting into prostate gland: either from urethra, or rectum, or through blood circulatory or lymph system. However, the treatment of prostate is impossible without correction of factors influencing its development. So, to prevent the repeated development of prostate, it is required to:
1. Have the active mode of life, especially with sedentary work; do morning exercises, go jogging in the morning or at least make breaks every hour and walk around the working place.
2. Avoid overcooling, because any temperature alteration may impact the total or local immunity.
3. Put in order the sexual life, get rid of chronic constipation.
4. Perform treatment of chronic diseases (bronchitis, gastritis, and other inflammatory diseases).
5. Get examined regularly for sexually transmitted diseases.
The treatment should be complex, focused on elimination of the infectious agent and restoration of local and general immunity.
1. Antibacterial therapy is prescribed only based on the analysis of urine or prostate secretion. Most commonly Erythromycin, Doxycycline are used.
2. The prostate massage and physiotherapeutic procedures are required to strengthen blood circulation in pelvis and increase of antibacterial therapy efficacy.
Iontophoresis, ultrasound, thermal exposure are applied. The massage restores the functions and tone of prostate muscles, facilitates urination when it is impaired.
How can one help himself about the prostate?
Blood congestion with prostatitis aggravates the disease development. In order to improve the blood circulation in home conditions, one should do physical exercises, having consulted with the doctor, of course.
The model complex of physical exercises is the following:
1. Light squats should be performed 5-7 times with legs put apart from each other.
2. Stand erect and raise your leg bent in knee as high as possible keeping your back straight – 10 times.
3. Squat a little and then straighten up and spread your arms and one leg to one side – about 10 times.
4. Sit erect holding the ball between your knees and squeeze it forcibly for 6 seconds, repeat 7 times.
5. Lie on your back, raise your pelvis holding that position for about 7 seconds. Repeat the exercise 6-8 times.
